Adamstown Public School is situated in inner city Newcastle. The school is set in spacious grounds and serves a well–established and diverse community with people from a range of social and cultural backgrounds.
The school population of 370 students is drawn from a diverse local community with approximately 9% of students from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background and 10% of students with a language background other than English.

Adamstown Public School, situated in a quiet area of the suburb of Adamstown, has strong links with the community it serves. The school reflects the diversity of the suburb in its multicultural make-up. Some twelve per cent of students come from a non-English speaking background while two per cent are Aboriginal. The school offers a curriculum embracing the six Key Learning Areas with extra-curricular activities providing a wide choice and opportunities to all students. The school also aims to teach students the values of tolerance and good citizenship. The interdependence of all stakeholders in school life is a real strength.
